dc.description.abstract The first part is a reply to: Bayly, Thomas. Certamen religiosum. "Smectymnuo-mastix" (Wing L1191) has separate dated title page and pagination; register is continuous. "Smectymnuus" is a word composed of the initials of the authors Stephen Marshall, Edmund Calamy, Thomas Young, Matthew Newcomen, and William Spurstowe. Annotation on Thomason copy: "October 21".
