'When the younger Donne decided to make the Juvenilia more respectable by adding the Essayes in Divinity he felt he must try to suppress his dedication to Sir Henry Vane with .. confusing results' -- Keynes. Copies lacking any and all leaves of dedication are not imperfect. Annotation on Thomason copy: "Jan: 1st". Reproduction of the original in the British Library.
