dc.description.abstract Although attributed to Charles I, the first letter is in fact by Lord George Digby, who has signed it in "Two remarkable letters concerning the Kings correspondence with the Irish rebels" (Wing B4785; Madan 1810); the second, addressed to Nicholas, is signed: C.R. The imprint is false; "issued in London, .. a counterfeit"--Madan. Annotation on Thomason copy: "Sept: 3d". Reproduction of the original in the British Library.
