dc.description.abstract | Dedication signed: Robert Wilmot. A verse adaptation of "Tancredi and Ghismunda" from: Boccaccio, Giovanni. Decamerone. In the original play act 1 was written by Rodger Stafford, act 2 by Henry Noel, act 3 by "G. Al." (possibly William Allen), act 4 by Sir Christopher Hatton, and act 5 by Wilmot. Wilmot revised the play, and probably re-cast it from the original decasyllabic rhyming quatrains into blank verse. Signatures: *4 A-H⁴. A variant (STC 25764a) has imprint dated 1592. Reproduction of a photostat of the original in the Henry E. Huntington Library and Art Gallery. |
