dc.description.abstract By Ranulf Higden. An English translation by John Trevisa. Edited and with a continuation by William Caxton. All three individuals are named on a3v. Caxton's continuation is reprinted from "The chronicles of England", STC 9991. Caption title, "1"6r. Colophon (referring to the preparation of the text) reads: .. ended the second day of Iuyll the xxij yere of the regne of kynge Edwardthe [sic] fourth [and] of the Incarnacion of oure lord a thousand four honderd foure score and tweyne, fynysshed per Caxton. Opening of text, a2r: "Prohemye gRete thankynges lawde [and] honoure we merytoryously ben bounde to yelde and offre vnto wryters of hystoryes .."; "1"2r: "sYth the tyme that the grete and high tonr [sic] of babilone was bylded ..". Signatures: a-b C⁴; 1-28 chi² 29-48 49⁴ 50 52-55. Includes index. The first leaf and the last leaf are blank. Numerous errors in foliation. Reproduction of the original in the British Library.
