A Catalogue OF THE LIBRARY OF Yale-College IN NEW-HAVEN.

N LONDON, Printed by L. Green, 1743.

To the Students of Yale-College.

I Have here with considerable Labour and Pains, prepared a Catalogue of the Books in the Library under proper Heads that so you may Readily know and find any Book, upon any particular Subject.

The First Number signifies the Teer, the Second the Box; and the Third the Number of the Book: Where there is a Fourth, it signifies several Volumes or Duplicates. And where there are Two or more Setts of Numbers they signify the same Sort of Books in divers places.

[Page] The Introduction to Philosophy will give you a General Idea or Scheme of all the Arts and Sciences and the several things which are to be known and learnt: and this Catalogue will direct you to many of the best Books to be read in order to obtain the Knowlege of them. And I would advise you, my Pupils, to pursue a Regular Course of Academical Studies in some Measure according to the Order of this Catalogue. And in the First Year to Study principally the Tongues, Arithmetic and Algebra; the Second, Logic, Rhetoric and Geometry; the Third, Mathematics and Natural Philosophy; and the Fourth, Ethics and Divinity. Other less principal Studies may be occasionally intermix't with these. Above all have an Eye to the great End of all your Studies, which is to obtain the Clearest Conceptions of Divine Things and to lead you to a Saving Knowlege of GOD in his Son JESUS CHRIST.

T. CLAP.
