A Proclamation of the Truce betvveene his Maiesty of Spayne, and their most Illustrious Highnesses on the one party, and the States generall of the vnited Netherlands on the other party, Proclaymed before the Townehouse of the Citie of Antwerpe, the 14. of Aprill, Anno. 1609.

BE it knowne vnto all men, That to the glory and prayse of God Almighty, and to the welfare and quietnes of whole Christendome, and particularly of these Lowe Countryes, it is agreed and concluded, betweene his Maiesty the King of Spayne, &c. and the most Illustrious Archdukes our Soueraigne Princes on th'one party, and the States generall of the vnited Netherlandish Prouinces on the other party, a good, fast, firme, vpright, true, and inuiolable Truce and Cessation of all actions of Hostility, for the time and space of twelue yeeres, aswell by Sea and other waters, as by land, in all their Kingdomes, Lands, and Dominions, and for all their subiects and Inhabitants, of what quality and condition soeuer they be, which, during the sayd Truce, shall henceforth agree and come, dwell and soiourne in the Lands and Countries of one or the other; and there freely and without any molestation, to trade, traffike and vse their Commerce, aswell by Sea and other waters, as by Land, and shall repossesse their goods, as more at large doth appeare by the Articles of the sayd Truce.
And the most Illustrious Archdukes do commaund and charge all and singuler being vnder their subiection and obedience, to keepe the sayd Truce inuiolably, & to do nothing contrary to the tenour of the sayd Truce, vpon payne to be punished, as Breakers of the Peace and Treaty, without any mercy, fauour, composition, conniuency or partiality.
