A PROCLAMATION, Indicting a General Assembly.
Forasmuchas, the real Good of Our People, both in their Religious and Civil Concerns, is, and ever shall be very dear unto Us; And that We are hopeful the Meeting of a General Assembly of the Church, of this Our Antient Kingdom may contribute thereto: Therefore We with Advice of Our Privy Council, do Appoint and Ordain, a General Assembly of the Church of this Our Antient Kingdom, to meet and conveen at Edinburgh, the sixth Day of December next to come; And Require and Command, all Elections usual and necessar for the said General Assembly, to be duely and timeously made, and all Persons concerned to attend the said Meeting, Day and Place foresaid, as they will be Answerable. OUR WILL IS HEREFORE, and We Charge you strictly and Command, that incontinent these our Letters seen, ye pass to the Mercat-Cross of Edinburgh, and whole remanent Mercat-Crosses of the Head-burghs of the several Shires and Stewartries within this Our Realm, and there by open Proclamation, make Publication of the Premisses, that none may pretend Ignorance; And Ordains thir Presents to be Printed.
