VVE having perused a Paper of the sixt of this instant April, set forth by the Order of the general Council of the Officers of the Armyes of England, Scotland, & Ire­land, wherein we find the good old cause, which hath cost the people of these nations so much treasure and blood, in the prosecution of the war against the late King, to be again asserted.

For which mercy we hope those amongst us that fear the Lord, shall ever praise his Name.

And because our cousciences bears us witness that we dipt our hands in blood in that cause, & the blood of many thousands hath been shed by our immediate hands, under your commands in that Quarrel, we are amazed to think of the account that we must ren­der at the great and terrible day of the lord, if by our silence the Freedoms of these Nations (so much conten­ded for) should be loft & returned into the hands of that Family which God hath so eminently appeared against in his many signal providences, little less then miracles.

And therefore in all humility do declare, That we are resolved to stand by you in the farther prosecution of that good old cause which you mention in the third page of your representation & Petition to his High­ness, and we shal not think our lives too dear to hazard as formerly, if that old cavalier-party should appear against you, or any other party which shall endeavour to bring us into the like thraldom and bondage.
