            <p>The EEBO-TCP project was divided into two phases. The 25,363 texts created during Phase 1 of the project have been released into the public domain as of 1 January 2015. Anyone can now take and use these texts for their own purposes, but we respectfully request that due credit and attribution is given to their original source.</p>
            <p>Users should be aware of the process of creating the TCP texts, and therefore of any assumptions that can be made about the data.</p>
            <p>Text selection was based on the New Cambridge Bibliography of English Literature (NCBEL). If an author (or for an anonymous work, the title) appears in NCBEL, then their works are eligible for inclusion. Selection was intended to range over a wide variety of subject areas, to reflect the true nature of the print record of the period. In general, first editions of a works in English were prioritized, although there are a number of works in other languages, notably Latin and Welsh, included and sometimes a second or later edition of a work was chosen if there was a compelling reason to do so.</p>
            <p>Image sets were sent to external keying companies for transcription and basic encoding. Quality assurance was then carried out by editorial teams in Oxford and Michigan. 5% (or 5 pages, whichever is the greater) of each text was proofread for accuracy and those which did not meet QA standards were returned to the keyers to be redone. After proofreading, the encoding was enhanced and/or corrected and characters marked as illegible were corrected where possible up to a limit of 100 instances per text. Any remaining illegibles were encoded as &lt;gap&gt;s. Understanding these processes should make clear that, while the overall quality of TCP data is very good, some errors will remain and some readable characters will be marked as illegible. Users should bear in mind that in all likelihood such instances will never have been looked at by a TCP editor.</p>
            <p>The texts were encoded and linked to page images in accordance with level 4 of the TEI in Libraries guidelines.</p>
            <p>Copies of the texts have been issued variously as SGML (TCP schema; ASCII text with mnemonic sdata character entities); displayable XML (TCP schema; characters represented either as UTF-8 Unicode or text strings within braces); or lossless XML (TEI P5, characters represented either as UTF-8 Unicode or TEI g elements).</p>

               <seg rend="decorInit">T</seg>He differences be<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>twixt His Royall Majeſtie and the high Court of <hi>Parliament,</hi> are apparently <hi>known</hi> and made manifeſt; inſomuch, that the Subject is ſo vehemently diſtracted, that the differences betwixt the Head and the Body, are not, nor will not be ſuddainly brought to an end, or full period; His Majeſtie ſtandeth for his Prerogative, and the Parliament for their priviledges, two great matters now in diſſent between
<pb facs="tcp:156838:3"/>His Majeſty and the Parliament, buſineſ<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ſes of no little Conſequence: yet this is not all the Controverſie which is betwixt the King and Parliament, but the Lawes and Liberties of the Subject is in great diſſent betwixt His Royall Majeſty and the Honourable Court of Parliament, and the ſubject is in a great perplexity, by rea<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ſon of the differences now in contention, not knowing how to obey the Preroga<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>tive nor priviledges, the prerogative ſtan<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ding for the Honour and Dignity of His Royall perſon, the priviledge for the Li<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>berty and Freedom of the Subject.</p>
            <p>But the placing of Officers by the Ho<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>nourable Court of <hi>Parliament,</hi> without the conſent of His Majeſty, hath been the Cauſe of many Diſtempers ariſing from his Majeſties Royall Breaſt, all which be<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ing for the good and ſafety of the whole Kingdome, by reaſon of the great danger this Kingdom were in, and the great haz<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>zard of ruine that were like to befall this Nation, had not they out of their judici<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ous care took into conſideration the dan<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ger

            <p>His Majeſty taking into conſideration, the Government of his Navie Royall, his will and pleaſure was, That Sir <hi>John Pen<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>nington</hi> ſhould have the place of Admiral ſhip reſigned unto him, being againſt his Majeſties will and pleaſure, that the Earl of <hi>Warwicke</hi> ſhould enjoy that place any longer, and to that end and purpoſe did ſend a Meſſage to the Earl of <hi>Warwicke</hi> to give up his place, and that he ſho<gap reason="illegible" resp="#MURP" extent="1 letter">

               </gap>ld o<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>bey his ſpeciall Command, which was, that he ſhould reſign his place to S. <hi>John Pennington,</hi> the ſaid Sir <hi>John</hi> being neer unto him, expecting the Receit therof.</p>
            <p>His Majeſty were likewiſe Reſolved, that he ſhould not enjoy that place any longer, but that He ſhould obey his Com<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>mand therin.</p>
            <p>The Earl of <hi>Warwicke</hi> having received this Meſſage and Command from his Ma<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>jeſty, wherin was ſpecified his full Reſo<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>lution and intention, being much per<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>plexed, thinking and conceiving it a
<pb facs="tcp:156838:4"/>matter of no ſmall conſequence, which he was entruſted with, being for the de<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>fence of HIs Majeſties Royall Perſon, and the ſafeguard of the whole Kingdom, knowing the integrity of his own heart both to His Majeſtie and the Parliament, he reſolved not to deſert that charge committed to his truſt, wherein God ſince his beginning hath proſpered him with ſuch happy and fortunate ſucceſſe; and therefore he ſet down his full Reſo<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>lution, that he would not reſigne that place, but to continue it; untill he ſhould be revoked by that Authoritie which hath entruſted him with it.</p>
            <p>Which Reſolution he declared like<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>wiſe to all His Majeſties Captains, at a meeting which he had appointed for that purpoſe; and at the ſame time, they unanimouſly and cheerfully took the ſame Reſolution; taking many ſolemn Vowes and Proteſtations, to continue the ſame as long as breath remained in their bodies, and that they would for the per<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>formance thereof, ſeale it with their
<pb facs="tcp:156838:4"/>deareſt blood; being a token and wit<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>neſſe of their fervent love and affection, which they beare both to their King and Country, vowing to maintain the ſame to the utmoſt of their power.</p>
            <p>And that His Perſon which the Ho<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>nourable Houſe of Peeres and Commons, had ſet over them to be their Governour, meaning the Right Honourable the Earl of <hi>WARWICK,</hi> ſhould never take the leaſt blemiſh, ſo long as they were able to performe any ſervice to his Lordſhip, the Reſolution of them being ſo conſtant and true, that ſuch men of ſpirits were never known, which we muſt all attribute to the great God of Heaven and Earth only. So I beſeech the Lord of Heaven to con<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>tinue them in the ſame Minds and Re<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ſolutions, which they have moſt faithful<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ly and unanimouſly expreſſed to the vaſt world, in generall,</p>

            <p>Thus may we all ſee, the miraculous Actions and Proceedings which the Lord entruſteth with his ſervants.</p>
            <p>The Proceedings in <hi>Yorkſhire and Lan<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>caſhire the laſt week,</hi> were very tumultuous, there appearing divers in a warlike man<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>mer in thoſe Counties. <hi>But praiſed be God, although wee have but little comfort here in</hi> England, <hi>yet we have moſt happy and ioyfull News from</hi> Ireland, <hi>the Earl of</hi> Ormond <hi>ha<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ving fought a great Battell with the Rebels, putting above</hi> 2000. <hi>to the ſword, with little loſse, the which Letter was read in the Houſe of Commons on Saturday laſt, and Ordered to be forthwith Printed.</hi>
