         <editorialDecl>
            <p>EEBO-TCP is a partnership between the Universities of Michigan and Oxford and the publisher ProQuest to create accurately transcribed and encoded texts based on the image sets published by ProQuest via their Early English Books Online (EEBO) database (http://eebo.chadwyck.com). The general aim of EEBO-TCP is to encode one copy (usually the first edition) of every monographic English-language title published between 1473 and 1700 available in EEBO.</p>
            <p>EEBO-TCP aimed to produce large quantities of textual data within the usual project restraints of time and funding, and therefore chose to create diplomatic transcriptions (as opposed to critical editions) with light-touch, mainly structural encoding based on the Text Encoding Initiative (http://www.tei-c.org).</p>
            <p>The EEBO-TCP project was divided into two phases. The 25,363 texts created during Phase 1 of the project have been released into the public domain as of 1 January 2015. Anyone can now take and use these texts for their own purposes, but we respectfully request that due credit and attribution is given to their original source.</p>
            <p>Users should be aware of the process of creating the TCP texts, and therefore of any assumptions that can be made about the data.</p>
            <p>Text selection was based on the New Cambridge Bibliography of English Literature (NCBEL). If an author (or for an anonymous work, the title) appears in NCBEL, then their works are eligible for inclusion. Selection was intended to range over a wide variety of subject areas, to reflect the true nature of the print record of the period. In general, first editions of a works in English were prioritized, although there are a number of works in other languages, notably Latin and Welsh, included and sometimes a second or later edition of a work was chosen if there was a compelling reason to do so.</p>
            <p>Image sets were sent to external keying companies for transcription and basic encoding. Quality assurance was then carried out by editorial teams in Oxford and Michigan. 5% (or 5 pages, whichever is the greater) of each text was proofread for accuracy and those which did not meet QA standards were returned to the keyers to be redone. After proofreading, the encoding was enhanced and/or corrected and characters marked as illegible were corrected where possible up to a limit of 100 instances per text. Any remaining illegibles were encoded as &lt;gap&gt;s. Understanding these processes should make clear that, while the overall quality of TCP data is very good, some errors will remain and some readable characters will be marked as illegible. Users should bear in mind that in all likelihood such instances will never have been looked at by a TCP editor.</p>
            <p>The texts were encoded and linked to page images in accordance with level 4 of the TEI in Libraries guidelines.</p>
            <p>Copies of the texts have been issued variously as SGML (TCP schema; ASCII text with mnemonic sdata character entities); displayable XML (TCP schema; characters represented either as UTF-8 Unicode or text strings within braces); or lossless XML (TEI P5, characters represented either as UTF-8 Unicode or TEI g elements).</p>
            <p>Keying and markup guidelines are available at the <ref target="http://www.textcreationpartnership.org/docs/.">Text Creation Partnership web site</ref>.</p>

Shall I cauſe to bring forth, and ſhut the Womb, ſaith my God?</hi> So here you may ſee, it is the Lord that faſhions in the Womb, and brings it forth, both the Natural birth and the Spiritual birth, and opens the womb and ſhuts the womb, both the womb of the Morning, and of Eternity, and of the Natural.</p>

            </p>
            <p>And the Apoſtle ſaith, <hi>That the Word of Faith which he preacht, was in their hearts and mouthes, to obey it, and to do it,</hi> Rom. 10. <hi>And the engrafted Word, was able to ſave their ſouls,</hi> James ſaith. <p>And Chriſt ſaid, <hi>Sanctifie them through thy Word; thy Word is Truth</hi> (to wit, his Diſciples and Believers.) And again, Chriſt ſaith, <hi>I have given them thy Word, and they have k<gap reason="illegible" resp="#PDCC" extent="1 letter">

So here you may ſee, what is the means by which the <hi>Young mens</hi> ways are cleanſed and ſanctified, and what makes them ſtrong, and to overcome the wicked One, the Word of God abiding in them; and therefore every Young man, and all Young people are to love and obey, and do the Word of God, by which their Ways, Words and Hearts, and all may be kept clean; for the Word of God is a <hi>Hammer</hi> and <hi>a Sword,</hi> to hammer down and cut down the Devil and his works, and a <hi>Fire</hi> to burn them up: So it is the Word of Power, the Word of Wiſdom, the Word of Reconciliation, and the Word of Patience, by which they overcome.</p>

            <p>Now, here you may ſee how <hi>John</hi> writes as a Father, that knew Chriſt in the beginning; and he writes to the Fathers that knew Chriſt in the beginning. So the Fathers knew him in the Glory that he had with the Father before the World began, and that all things were made by <hi>Jeſus Chriſt:</hi> So they knew him as he was <hi>God,</hi> the <hi>Word;</hi> they knew Chrſt, as he was Man. <hi>The Word was made Fleſh, &amp;c.</hi> they knew Chriſt in the Promiſes and in the Prophecyes, they knew him in the Figures, Types and Shadows made under the Law, they knew him, &amp; of whom he was to be conceived, to wit, the Virgin; they knew him in his <hi>Birth, Life, Doctrine, Preaching, Miracles, Sufferings, Death, Grave, Reſurrection</hi> and <hi>Aſcenſion into the Glory</hi> with the Father and at his right hand; yea, <hi>the Glory which he had with the Father before the World began.</hi> So the <hi>Fathers</hi> have known <hi>[Mark]</hi> have known Chriſt from the <hi>beginning,</hi> 1 John 2.14.</p>

            <p>Now, all you that do Murmur againſt people that have many Children, and do complain and ſay, <hi>That they do fill your Towns, Cities and Countries with Children;</hi> and many times you that do ſo complain have few or no Children; and you are afraid that they ſhould come to want, and that then you muſt be fain to re<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>lieve their neceſſities. And what then? What you do give to the poor, you lend to the Lord, and he will repay it to you again, if they cannot; and this wanting mind is for want of Faith, and of God, who gives the increaſe of all, and is Rich unto all that call upon him; and the Lord would have you to take notice, that Children are the Heritage of the Lord. And ſo, what you do give to the breeding, and nurſing, and relieving of Children, you do it to the <hi>Heritage of the Lord,</hi> and the Lord hath many adopted Sons, that he hath taken to be his, <hi>that have received the adoption of Sons,</hi> Gal. 4. And what if you that have no Children ſhould do ſo? It was but a Croſs to the grumbling or murmuring ſelf, which many times have no Children, and are diſcontent with the poor that have many; and do think much either to adopt them to your ſelves, and are afraid that they will be chargeable to you, namely, the Children that are the Heritage of the Lord; but the Lord that doth increaſe the Children which are his He<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ritage, he will take care for his Heritage, whether that murmur<g ref="char:EOLhyphen"/>ing complaining mind againſt Poor People of having ſo many Children, you relieving them or no, he will take care for his Heritage, bleſſed be his Name forever, <hi>Amen.</hi>

            <p>Again, <hi>John</hi> ſaith, <hi>My little Children, Let not us love in Word, neither in Tongue, but in Deed and in Truth, hereby we know that we are of the Truth, and ſhall aſſure our hearts before him: This is a good tryal, little Children,</hi> 1 John 3. <hi>Ye are of God, little Children, and ye have overcome them</hi> (to wit, Antichriſt, and the World and its God) <hi>becauſe greater is he that is in you, than he that's in the World;</hi> (a good reaſon to little Children, the greater to overcome the leſſer) <hi>and every one that Loveth him,</hi> (to wit, God that begot him) <hi>loveth him alſo that is begotten of him; by this we know that we love the Children of God, when we love God and keep his Commandments; this is a good tryal, and a manifeſtation,</hi> 1 John. 5.</p>
