Of the Eclipses this Year, 1675.

THere will be five Eclipses of the Luminaries this year 1675. viz. three of the Moon, and two of the Sun: those of the Moon will be visible at Edinburgh; but if Clouds hinder not, its certain one of the Solar Eclipses will be visible, as shall in order be proved.

A description of the four Quar­ters of the year: and first, of the Spring.

THe Spring Quarter begins at the Suns en­trance in the Equinoctial Sign Aries, which is upon the 10 of March, 20 minuts past 2 in the af­ter-noon, making the days and nights of an equal length,

Of Summer.

SUmmer Quarter taketh its beginning when the Sun entreth the first minut of the Tropical Sign Cancer, which is upon the 11 day of June, 44 mi­nuts past 7 in the morning, when the days are at the longest.

Of Harvest.

AUtumn, or Harvest Quarter, taking in be­ginning when the Sun entereth the Equinocti­al Sign Libra, which happeneth the 12 of Septem­ber, 10 minuts past 5 in the after-noon, the day and night being equal.

Of Winter,

WInter Quarter taketh its beginning when the Sun entreth the Sign Capricorn, which is upon the 10 of December, at 7 a clock at night, the days at that time being at the shortest, and the nights at the longest.

Beltan day the first, the 26 day a fair at Rugland the 28 day, continuing four days, at Leven the 29 day, and in Kilreny the 30 day, at Dalkeith up-the last tuesday of this moneth.

Whitsonmunday in Glasgow, Dumbartan, Lanerk and Jedburgh Whitsontuesday, called Pardon day, in the Chanrey of Ross, and at the Mirk of Ninans above Kircaldy, Trinity munday in Edinburgh, and Brichin 8 dayes: in S. Trinity tuesday in Rugland lasting 2 dayes, Trinity thursday in Falkland.

S. Barnabie in Law­der and Dysert, S Lawrence in Grinnock 11 day; the same day there is a fair in Dirltoun, with a weekly mercat every wednes­day: also, there is a fair at Preston pans the same day, with a weekly mercat every tuesday, S Margaret in Abernethy, Ceres in Fife 13 day, Midsummer on S. As for Example, I demand what time it will be full Sea at Leith, upon the 24. day of March 1675 I enter the following Table, and finds (directly over against the 24. day of March) the Moons age to be 8 days old: with which 8. I enter this little Table, and over against it, I see 8. 20. viz. 8. hours 20 minuts, signifying that 20. minuts past 8. that mor­ning, or afternoon, it will be full Sea at Leith. More ex­amples in a thing so plain, were but superfluous.
