Veritas.
Heresia.
GReat King protect vs with thy gratious hand,
Or else Armenius will o're spred this Land:
For if in England th'enemy doth appeare,
This is the shape of him we need to feare.
He raiseth Factions, and that brings in iarres,
Which broacheth Errors, and vpholds the wars:
The Netherlands ruine, he sought to bring,
In England now he doth the selfe same thing.
To rayle, to write, to publish bitter gall,
To change Religi [...]n, and subuert vs all.
His Squint-ey'd lookes & Lansa-Wolsa gowne,
Shewes how Religion h [...] wil soone throw down.
His grynding pate with weather-Cocks turn'd braine,
Seeketh the Churches tenets for to staine:
The Christal streams of truth he shuns most pure,
The tryall of Gods word he'le not endure:
But vnto Error cast his blinking eye,
Presuming Truth doth not the same espie.
Heresie vpon a stately Beast doth stand,
Armenius bids him welcome, holds his hand.
Truth by her brightnesse, and her sincere heart,
Shewes that with Heresie shee takes no par.
Treades on their Mounteb inke & Cozning tricks,
Blowne in his eares, by Pe [...]agius and Iesuites.
Which makes his Wind-mil for promotions grace
Publish his Bookes abroad in euery place:
And begs protection for his workes of wonder,
Which against Truth he bellowes forth like thunder.
Thus doth Armenius to preferment rise,
By Equiuocating and his Cheuerill lyes:
And Truth to all appeales to open view,
Bidding all Heresies for ere adew
Desiring our great CHARLES to take to heart▪
And by the Parlament make Armenius smart.
Which being done England shall euer blesse
The King, the State, the Churches happinesse,
And if for telling truth, I burne or frye;
What then deserues he that tels a lye? 1628.
