THe puysaunt prynce and innocent most pure
which hūbly descēded from ye sete sēpiternall
Illumyne his beames of grace to euery creature
To withstand the conflycte of our enemyes mortall
The deuyl, the worlde, & the flesh, these thre in special
whiche setteth deuysion betwene ye soule & the body
Inlike wise enuy setteth debat betwene party & partye
I speake for this cause, dayly ye may se
How that by enuy and malyce, many be destroyed
Which if they had lyued in peace wt pacient humilite
Ryches and prosperyte with them had ben emploied
For there as is peace, no man is annoyed
For by peace men growe to great rychesse
And by peace men lyue in great quyetnesse
I am named peace, which enuye doeth expell
